Resistance is Futile

Resistance to change your life will lead to futility.

"Resistance is the energy that makes up our limiting beliefs and negative emotions and acts as an energetic force field against anything we're trying to make a part of our experience. The tricky part about resistance is that it's often hidden deep within the subconscious, and often we don't even know it's there." ~ Bob Doyle

You may believe that some people have what it takes to accomplish anything they want too and some people just don't have that ability. This is just not true in any sense of the word. You are as good or powerful as anyone else. You have the power within you to do whatever it takes to do whatever you want. To accomplish your life long dreams. Your power is limitless. Believe it!

It is a matter of mind set. It is a matter of how your thought processes work. You and only you have total control over what you think, how you think.

We are so impregnated with negative teachings all through our life that it becomes extremely hard to even recognize this fact. But, it is part of our makeup whether we see it or not.

We become like a taco all wrapped up in all of the negative events occurring around us that we allow these thoughts and events to become a part of us. Unconsciously, yes; or maybe we consciously allow this to happen.

What you need to do to change this is to make a firm decision to change it. Changing your negative thinking is like using a road map. Start at your location and map out where you want to go. Mark every step along the map that you want to change. Be totally honest with yourself. For instance, if you are negatively influenced by the daily news on the TV or in the newspaper or anywhere else, stop watching, listening and reading it.

You may need to do this in a way that is much different from how another person does it. None of us are exactly alike. Thank God. You have to decide how you are going to change your own thinking pattern. Do it and stick with it. Have the grit to move on.

There is ONE thing that you absolutely must sew into your brain's actions to accomplish moving out of your own resistant mind set: gratitude. Be thankful for everything that comes your way. Please don't tell me that this is an impossibility. I know better and I know this because I use this every day and many, many times during the day to accomplish what I want to accomplish. If I didn't use this technique in my life I would certainly have given up on building my own business by now and I would have given up on life itself.

Allow me to tell you a story and I hope that it doesn't turn out to be a novel. I am not accomplishing very much with the company that I am with. Most people would have thrown up their hands, been so frustrated, depressed and felt beaten upon that they would have given up by now and would have moved on to another company. Not me. Why? Because I believe in this company. I have a passion for this company and what I perceive they are trying to achieve. I have a passion for where I want to be and for what I want to accomplish and I firmly believe that I can do this with this company. I am grateful for this company.

Life can suck if we allow it too. You may be as broke as a street person. You may feel broken as a person. You may be out of a job and wondering where in the heck you are going to find a job so you can eat a descent meal or feed your family. Trust me, give thanks for these things and a job will come your way. If you are trying to build your own business be grateful for the guts to try it.

One of the hidden aspects of being grateful for all is that this attitude changes your way of thinking It causes you to act, feel and look at your life differently. You are able to get out and find a good job because you look and feel different about YOURSELF. Employers will sense that you are different and be willing to take a chance with hiring you. Your efforts in building your own business will be rewarded.

I know and firmly understand how dang difficult it can be to give thanks for everything. It takes practice and it takes determination to change your life. When you feel yourself about ready to scream and give up, give it a second push.

Every living, breathing human being comes to some sort of road block in changing their mental attitude, their resistance to change and they have to give it one more effort, one more push ahead to ever accomplish their dreams. That second wind, that second effort is what makes your life different. Be willing to give it.

Love and Blessings,

Elaine

Do You Need A Nudge?

NEEDING A NUDGE

"A wiser person than I once said that humans have four basic needs.
One is the need to be nurtured. Next is the need to be needed.
Third, the need to be noticed. And finally, the need to be nudged.

Although I never had much luck nudging my own children, I've often
thought of a story about a small boy who could not be nudged to quit
banging a drum. Various attempts were made to do something about
quieting the child.

One person told the boy that he would, if he continued to make so
much noise, perforate his eardrums. This reasoning was too advanced
for the child, who was neither a scientist nor a scholar.

A second person told him that drum beating was a sacred activity and
should be carried out only on special occasions. A third person
offered the neighbors plugs for their ears; a fourth gave the boy a
book; a fifth gave the neighbors books that described a method of
controlling anger through biofeedback; a sixth person gave the boy
meditation exercises to make him placid and docile. None of these
attempts worked.

Eventually, a wise person came along with an effective motivation.
He looked at the situation, handed the child a hammer and chisel,
and asked, "I wonder what is INSIDE the drum?"

No more problem.

I agree that we sometimes need to be nudged. At times, we may need
to be nudged into healthier behaviors. Or maybe nudged out of
destructive relationships or patterns. Or simply nudged to think a
little bigger; to do or be a something more challenging and less
mediocre.

No doubt, that is why the motivational industry is so successful.
(And no, it is probably not true that if you listen to your
motivational tapes backwards you will become a failure. I think a
couple of you may have been worried about that.)

It seems to me that good leaders know about this basic human need to
be prodded, challenged and encouraged. They also know that the best
way to nudge someone is often simply to invite them along a path
that is more appealing than the one they've chosen. The best leaders
teach us to dream and tempt us to do more than we ever thought
possible. They challenge us to be a part of something great.

Writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, "If you want to build a ship,
don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give
orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea."
Sometimes all we need is a nudge to desire something magnificent.

Is this the nudge you need?"

I think we all need a nudge at times in our life. You may need a nudge to get up off of the couch and stop being a couch potato. Maybe you need a nudge to think about your life long dream and to stop stopping yourself from going for it.

A carefully, kindly placed nudge can give you just the incentive you need to push on with your life. It can also help you in your business development.

Do you need a nudge? Let me know by leaving a comment. Maybe we can help each other.

See you at the top of the mountain,

You Better Be Thinking About Working For Yourself

Here are some statistics for you to think about as you consider starting your own home business: These statistics are as of August, 2010 and were taken from the US Labor Dept website:
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

1. There are 14.9 million persons unemployed.
2. The unemployment rate still sits above the 9.0% mark. (9.5% - 9.7%)
3. Employment rate for adult men is 9.8%
4. Employment rate for adult women is 8.0%
5. Employment rate for whites is 8.7%
6. Employment rate for blacks is 16.3%
7. Consumer price index increased by 0.3%

"However, Mayur's polls continued to find much worse figures. The June poll turned up 27.8% of households with at least one member who's unemployed and looking for a job, while the latest poll conducted in the second week of July showed 28.6% in that situation. That translates to an unemployment rate of over 22%, says Mayur, who has started questioning the accuracy of the Labor Department's jobless numbers." See full article from DailyFinance: http://srph.it/bjW9Zv

These figures are bad enough to choke an elephant much less a human being like you and me.

When I became of age to go to work things were so different. I know, you have heard that before. But, it is true. As an employee I didn't worry about job security. I felt safe in my job. I didn't worry about getting laid off, fired or suspended. Jobs were meaningful. Employers cared. Companies cared.

Today, the rules have changed and not for the better, I might add. There is no safety nor security in being an employee of any company.

Your pay check is normally just enough to get by on(maybe), and it can be taken away within a flash. Too many people have lost their pay check, their homes and so much more.

The lost of self-esteem. The stress of not being able to care for your family. Knowing you can't get a job that paid as good as the one that you lost. Feeling of failure. Depression has set in.

So, what are you going to do? Stay with the same-old, same-old thing, trying to survive this unstable financial crisis? Or, are you going to take control and say, "No more." The decision is yours.

I have some news for you, It is not going to get any better. That is not until you realize that you have to change how you go about thinking.

There exist, right now, an out for you. That out is starting your own home business. Working for yourself and not having to worry about rather you will have job tomorrow. You can do this part time and then go to full time.

I am not going to lie to you. Having your own home business and working for yourself takes time for you to earn very much money. This is why so many people start out working from home on a part time basis.

You can succeed. Decide what you want to accomplish and go for it. Don't allow anything nor anyone to stand in your way.

Things that are necessary:
1. A detailed plan...
2. You must commit to being focused on your plan...
3. Remove yourself from negative people...
4. Find someone that can help you achieve your plan - A mentor...
5. Take responsibility - Stop blaming others...

If you continue to do as you are doing, saying the things you are saying, stopping before you get to the stop sign, you will stay on the same path as you have always been on. Still having the same old regrets.

You were placed on this earth to thrive and succeed. Where you go from here is determined by you, not by an employer, not by the government, not by your family and not by your friends. These are not looking out for you.

You are a deserving human being. You shouldn't have to worry about where the next meal is coming from. Nor how you are going to pay for your child's education. Nor if you will ever be able to retire.

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will." ~ Vince Lombardi

If you are ready to take a leap of faith in yourself, if you are tired of being put-upon, if you are sick of being broke, then get back with me.

Live Your Dream

It's Labor Day Alright

I don't normally write a blog post like this on this blog. I set this blog up to be a relaxing place to visit and learn. A place of inspiration to dream and go for those dreams. A safe time to spend reflecting on the good in our lives and to give you some ideas to use to move ahead. And, I can't say that the devil made me do it. I am writing this post because I am tired of the unchristian, immoral way that our lives have become.

There are those jobs where some will always have to be at work on this holiday and all holidays: hospitals, police, firefighters, etc.... But, everyone else should be off. They should be allowed to live a day of fun.

Labor Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. Labor Day has its origins in the labor union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.

In the United States, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September.  This year, as we know, is Monday, September 6.

The first Labor Day in the US was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City and became a federal holiday in 1894. This was actually a sad time for many families because this holiday was set following the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U. S. Marshals during the so called Pullman Strike. We can thank President Grover Cleveland for seeing this as a political national disaster and to reconcile what had happened he decided to push through Congress this new holiday. He did this in hopes to holt any further problems with the labor movement.

So what else is new? A holiday to solve a political mistake.

I certainly do not want to dampen anyone's festive minds about this holiday. But, I think it is wise to remember that it is truly a labor day for many. Not really a holiday to be spent enjoying one's family and friends around a picnic or cookout because for many this is a day of laboring at a job. Not what I consider a holiday.

To add insult to injury, we did this to our neighbors and friends by being selfish and greedy. We tend to want what we want when we want it. So, what difference does it make if some people have to work because we didn't get to the store earlier. And, let's not forget the financial creed of the company owners and stockholders. After all, it is a good day for a store wide sale and the bottom line of the P&L statement.

As you watch this video, please remember that this is a person holding a position where she gets paid to make "everything" a vase of roses with no thorns:

Now, I want you to watch this video:

I sincerely thank all of you that will be working on this Labor Day Holiday and I wish for everyone a day of fun, safety and enjoyment.

If you ever get completely fed up with all this 'Job' stuff let me know. I am a firm believer in working but I believe in working for myself and those surrounding me in my work not a greedy, self-centered corporate CEO.

Many blessings to you on this day and every day...

Why So Many Newsletters?

As I sit here writing this I have to giggle under my breath. Let me tell you why. The other day a friend of mine complained about the number of newsletters that she gets every day. Of course, being me, I came back with, "Well, didn't you sign up to get them?" The answer, "I suppose I did but it takes so long to read them all and they take up a lot of room in my inbox."

It is interesting that people sign up for information and then get irritated and complain when they receive that information. If you don't want that information then scroll down to the bottom of the newsletter and click the "unsubscribe" button. Now, isn't that simple?

Another way to look at all those newsletters is to allow them to be a teaching lesson. What in the world do I mean by that?

If you are a marketer it is a MUST that you learn copy-writing. You can read books or join programs. You can watch videos on copy-writing. You can even listen to someone talk about copy-writing. And, you will learn a lot.

But, then, what?

I subscribe to a number of newsletters to see copy-writing skills in action. I study the subject lines - header, the content and the close or better known as "the call to action".

You can learn a great deal of good tactics by doing this. Don't think of those newsletters as being just a thing trying to sell you something. Look at them as a teaching tool. You can achieve a good strategy for your own writing by taking the time to scrutinize those so-called pesting newsletters.

Learn to look at a newsletter with an open eye for copy-writing. In analyzing, taking apart, a newsletter think about these areas:
The subject line:
* Most important
* Did it make you open it
* Did you want to open it to read more
* Is it catchy
* Did it make you curious
* Did it make you mad

The body:
* Is it commanding your attention
* Is it interesting
* Is it teaching you something
* Is it giving you benefits
* Is it just speaking about the author
* Are you getting bored
* Is it just trying to sell you something

The closing, a call to action:
* Does it make you want to click
* Do you want to click
* Is it too far down or spread out in different places

Be judgmental in your evaluation. The next time you get a newsletter learn something from it. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying to subscribe to every dick and harry newsletter out there. Be selective. Subscribe to some good marketer's newsletters and you will begin to be able to write better, compelling copy yourself.

Happy Writing...

Elaine
