How High Is Your Stress Level?

The picture may be a little funny but living a life full of stress isn't.

I have read that stress is a choice! I bet you are thinking, "yea, right!" Then why do we all feel so stressed out a lot of the time? It has always been a part of life and will continue to be so. It is what we do about it and how we handle it that matters.

Some stress can even be good. I know in my job I can work and think faster and clearer under some of the stressful situations I encounter. It allows me to block out non-essential thinking and concentrate on what has to be done. At the same time I wouldn't want to stay in that stressful state for very long. It is draining on the mind and body.

Feeling stressed out in our every-day life doesn't add anything to our life as a matter of fact it shortens our life.

"Most of us spend our lives as if we had another one in the bank."
       ~ Ben Irwin

One of the things you might try doing to relieve stress in your life, also meaning in your business, is to slow down. That's right, just slow down. Simple sounding but it actually does work.

Why do we insist on making life so complicated when it is really is so simple? Slow down and clean out the clutter. Set priorities. Clean out the garbage.
If you can do this then you will soon find that your life and your business is more fun and fore-filling.

Hopefully this movie can get you started thinking about cleaning the stress out of your life.

If your life isn't fun then change it!
If your business isn't fun then get out! Try something else.

How do you handle stress? Let me know. Maybe it will help me and some others reading this post.

  1. You are so right, Elaine. My stress reliever definitely isn't good for me. I smoke. Smoking tobacco releases endorphins in the body, but that little bit of good isn't really worth all the bad that goes with it. Sometimes I play 3 of a kind puzzle games to releive stress, or building civilizations games. I love the building part, but hate the "war" that often goes with it.
Having someone to chat with on a regular basis helps relieve stress. I'm good because I live with my 86 year old mother. We sit for an hour or better after meals and just remember when or discuss books, science, anything that captures our fancy. It's often the best part of any day.

    1. Arrwyn, you are probably so right about the smoking but it does seem to help at times just not the body. I also play games to relieve stress. When my grandmother was alive I use to talk with her and like you I enjoyed it so much. Elderly persons are such a treat and we can learn so much from them. Thanks for leaving a comment.
